3/29/2013 Work, write, and clothes?

Friday 3/29/2013

I have fake purple hair glued to my head. These are formally known as extensions. I’ll take them out next week as this stuff be ichy.

Friday Friday Friday

Work Work Work

I got up at 5:15 am to finish an article on Sound Rabbit for Dayton City Paper and then did a little online math.

8:00 I started a shift at the IT labs of Sinclair Community College. I feel silly wearing my purple pig tails but I wore a paper clip in my hair all day a few weeks ago so I really don’t know why I would be bothered. Self conscious Friday I suppose. A large chuck of the spacy universe that is mind was anxious about the meeting for Dayton City Paper at 6. I had really regretted my outfit to the last one and I wanted to make a better impression at this one. I was also worried about having forgotten shorts to wear under my dress which is also an impression I didn’t want to make.

At 12 I get out of the IT labs. I grab a large coffee from the cafeteria and hit The Clarion by 12:15.

The boss lady is out as she just had surgery. (It looks like she’ll be fine which is great as she’s super cool!) She sent a guy to come check up on how we were doing and help us if needed. This guy is an editor for Dayton Daily News and he has a radio show! He was very awesome and had a lot of good advice. Websites and blogs are important! I need to make my blog more interesting. Maybe I should do less whole day reviews and focus on one little event at a time that I can give nice details to. I guess I still have to finish this one…

Ha ha just like that I decided to refocus my blog.

Ok so words of wisdom, advice for life, then some editing. The reporters were working on a fake paper to send the Boss Lady in recovery for April fools day. I got to pose for a picture to be featured in this fake paper. I was the girl who thought about stealing a big stack of Newsweek magazines that has apparently been sitting on a table in building 8 for weeks now.

The articles were funny and really good. I wish we could publish all that sarcasm as an April fools issue to the public.

So after Clarion I got into my outfit for the evening. I wore a dress I had gotten from the Goodwill. It’s pink with a purple pattern overlay. It has a ruffle over the right shoulder but only a single strap over the left. (I like dresses that make my tattoo look cool) I had light pink fishnet tights and black shoe lace heels. I had contacts in and even did a little extra makeup. Off white leather jacket with a hood completed the ensemble and I feel like it was a cool look.

“I’ve given up on being professional,” I’ve been explaining to people. “Let’s just aim to be remembered.”

So I left Sinclair walking slowly and holding my skirt in place. I drove to the Oregon District and went straight to the Goodwill store where I bought a pair of pink and red shorts. Now if I had a Marilyn Monroe moment I would at least have shorts that kinda match the dress.

I’m bored of this.

I’ll start doing things as individual reviews and try to be more focused. This will mean more blogs but shorter blogs. I think that will work better for me and I can practice reviewing things. Too much ADD to recount an entire day in one sitting. My life is just so interesting how could I possibly share it all? Slight sarcasm there.
